Andalusia: the Guadalquivir under evaporation pressure

In Andalusia, the Guadalquivir basin and irrigation ponds face average evaporation of 1,500 mm/year on exposed surfaces. Pumping restrictions, quotas and recurring drought: every stored m³ counts.

Local hydric context

Campiña, Córdoba, Seville and the coast: quota-bound crops, farm storage basins and hill reservoirs. IFAPA and AEMET document structural deficits — passive evaporation worsens every summer campaign.

Orders of magnitude

A 10,000 m² basin in Andalusia at 1,500 mm/year loses 15,000 m³ to evaporation. With Hexprotect AQUA cover (88% conservative), over 13,000 m³ remain in the basin.
